The life of a spa professional is a continuous cycle of daily responsibilities that help make the spa world go round . Pulse asks ISPA members to give us a sneak peek into their daily lives to help us understand the roles they play and the difference they make on a daily basis . trIcIa beHMardI Director of Education n jane iredale
Imagine being nine years old and walking into a local drugstore , holding your mother ’ s hand . It feels like a normal Sunday errand until you turn and see the wondrous makeup counter for the first time . For an eager , creative little Tricia Behmardi , it painted quite a vivid picture . She particularly remembers an eyeshadow palette with over 60 shades on display . After doing chores and relentlessly begging her mother , Tricia finally got the palette . With it , Behmardi would paint the faces of her girlfriends every day after school . I guess you could say this is where her career as a makeup artist began .
Behmardi ’ s love of makeup and beauty goes beyond just painting someone ’ s face ; that ’ s just scratching the surface . “ When you hand the mirror to the client sitting in your chair and they smile , then they fix their hair and sit up a little straighter and they say , ‘ Wow , I look beautiful — that ’ s why I love makeup ,” muses Behmardi . “ You really can change the lives of women and men .” She loves being able to give her clients that push of confidence they might need to succeed in other areas of their lives .
As director of education for jane iredale ,
Behmardi spends most of her time traveling to spas , working industry events , or working with the product development team . She loves watching the growth and confidence develop as her partners realize their own capabilities as artists . This is one of the many reasons she loves working with the spa industry .
Since Tricia ’ s days can vary , she gave us a peak into her day when she ’ s at home working :

★ 8:30 am Start my day with a cup of black tea and hang out with my two favorite beagles , Sadie Sue and Lexi Lou .
★ 9:30 am Depending on the projects due , I start the day looking at my to-do list I created the night before . I normally start on the most pressing one .
★ 11:00 am If I have a new product to test , I ’ ll apply it in the morning so I can see how it wears all day . There are times I walk around with different eye shadows on my eyes !
★ 12:00 pm I try to grab a bite to eat . Sometimes I end up eating at my desk , and others I just forget to eat lunch … I know that ’ s not good !
★ 1:30 pm If I have time , I ’ ll try to attend webinars on how to create successful eLearning content .
★ 2:00 pm I do a lot of curriculum development for our off-site classes and seminars we offer throughout the country . This year we launched a new class , “ Airbrushing with jane iredale .” This class has been a dream of mine for the past eight years . Finally , with the help of our global educator , Natalie Soto , we ’ ve figured out the formulas and now our partners have a healthy way to airbrush their clients .
★ 3:00 pm I try to take a break , grab another cup of tea , and let the puppies out !
★ 3:30 – 4:30 pm I try to finish up any loose ends . I check my email to make sure I ’ ve responded to all the emails I received that day . Sometimes , I get up to 150 emails in one day !
★ 5:00 pm I try to wrap up my day with writing my to-do list for tomorrow . I just started doing this a few months ago . It helps me stay organized and on top of all the many projects I ’ m working on .
★ 6:00 pm Start dinner . Well , not really , my husband prepares it , I just put it in the oven . He ’ s a much better cook , so if we want something healthy and yummy , he ’ s the one who has to make it !
★ 7:00 pm We sit down , have dinner , a glass of wine , and watch one of my favorite shows . n
