SNAPSHOT SURVEY
T
he March Snapshot Survey covered environmental sustainability practices within the spa. The last time an ISPA Snapshot Survey
focused on environmental sustainability was in March of 2010. Both spa and resource partner members have taken steps to
increase their sustainability practices since then.
More spas reported using sustainable bags within their retail space in 2018 than in 2010. In addition, 65 percent of spas noted it was
very important or extremely important to offer natural or organic products to their guests, and well over half, at 65 percent, offer a treatment
that is promoted as organic.
Resource partner respondents are also doing their part in the area, with 80 percent stating that sustainability has been integrated within
their company culture and 88 percent promoting recycling within the workplace. Just 5 percent of resource partner respondents do not
offer any organic and/or all-natural products.
Here are the results when spa respondents were asked to identify the importance of carrying products that are
considered natural or organic within their spa for consumers.
