Going into your first board meeting,
what were you most excited for?
BURNS: “Being in the presence and in
the same room with all the amazing
spa professionals.”
SAVAGE: “I had a lot of anticipation
about the decisions we would make,
and having a role in choosing how we
would proceed with the ISPA Confer-
ence & Expo was exciting to consider.”
What aspect of the board meeting
did you find most exciting or inter-
esting?
BURNS: “The collaboration of every-
one. It was interesting to me how
each person has something unique to
contribute from their experiences.
The topic I found most interesting
was discussing ISPA member benefits
and how to improve on them for our
members.”
category. Each year the
Nominations Committee
seeks qualified leaders
based on the needs of the
current year.
l
SAVAGE: “It turns out that the most
exciting and interesting thing that
happened at the board meeting was
when board members and ISPA staff
considered how we were going to
make sure that ISPA remains a rel-
evant thought leader, advocate and re-
source for spa owners far into the
future.” n
New directors take office at
the conclusion of the ISPA
Conference & Expo and
participate in a comprehen-

beforehand. This includes
connecting each new
director with a board
mentor.
