ISPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

NEXT MONTH , MANY OF US WILL BE MEETING IN LAS VEGAS , NEVADA , FOR OUR FIRST IN-PERSON ISPA CONFERENCE SINCE 2019 . I truly cannot believe that it has been more than two years since the ISPA community has gathered together outside of the digital confines of Zoom . Those two-plus years have felt as though they passed in the blink of an eye , while at the same time seeming to stretch on for what has felt like an eternity .

During that time , I have had the privilege of serving as your ISPA Board Chair . I suppose you could say that I have been your “ Virtual , COVID Board Chair .” We have connected mainly through the camera lenses on our screens during ISPA Town Halls and throughout the Stronger Together Summit last year . The distance has reminded me of the importance of the human-to-human connections that are the cornerstone of our industry . Spa and wellness happen when we share the power of human touch , breathe the same air and feel the kinetic exchange of human energy . We often share that truth with our guests , but sometimes forget to apply it to ourselves .

For those reasons , and for so many more , I am very much looking forward to — at long last — walking onto the ISPA Conference stage at Mandalay Bay in May and feeling the energy of the room as I get to say hello to you , in person , for the first time . I suspect there will be lots of love in the air , lots of hugs on the expo floor and plenty of tears on smiling cheeks .

We will also come together at Conference with lots of unknowns , as we continue to find our footing in a new world . What we can rely upon , however , is the leadership of ISPA ( and we all are ISPA ), to marshal the resources and energy that we will need to keep moving forward toward our common goal of lifting this industry to new heights . We made it through a global pandemic together , and we will build the new landscape of spa and wellness together too .
