Debra Locker , and my daughter , Tori , joined in and offered their time to make another go of it .
P : What challenges did you face in the process of producing the show ? K : The biggest challenge is finding supporters who believe in the vision of what we are trying to accomplish and having them underwrite the content to assist with our production costs . Remarkably , considering our newness to television production , we haven ’ t been challenged with finding outlets to broadcast our content . In fact , American Public Television
( APT ), the largest distributor of Public Broadcasting Service ( PBS ) content ( which reaches 200 million households ) has agreed to distribute our show if we are successful in providing them with a series of shows .
This can bring high-value to underwriters but , so far , we have not been successful in finding funders who can assist us with this endeavor . PBS allows underwriters to receive recognition within the show and there is a promotional value to validate the investment .
The pilot show Journey into Wellbeing served as a launching pad for Senior Moments . While the first one was

SNIPPETS FROM THE SCENES

Rancho La Puerta
TECATE , MEXICO
“ There is something very special about the story of Rancho La Puerta . When I served as executive director for the Destination Spa Group , I learned some of the back stories of these founding properties and became fascinated with the prospect of finding a way to share more of what they do with a bigger audience . I felt it was important to start where it all began , at Rancho La Puerta . There have been many video segments on the Ranch , but in order to move beyond amenities and infrastructure , the heart of the story had to be shared . Deborah
Szekely joined us and we focused more on the history , passion and intention behind the property , not on the physical aspects . From Deborah , I learned
Mayo Clinic to anticipate the ages between 60 to 90 years old because these have the potential to be the best years of our lives .”

Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program
ROCHESTER , MINNESOTA
“ Mayo Clinic receives more than 10,000 media queries each year so I was flattered they responded so well to our requests . This segment has two components : nutrition and research . We decided to chat with Donald Hensrud , M . D ., M . P . H ., director of the Healthy Living Program , to discuss nutrition and then moved into the kitchen with Chef Jen Welper to create some easy and nutritious meals that could easily be made at home .
We also visited with Nathan LeBrasseur , M . S ., Ph . D in his research lab at the Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging . He and I chatted about the most recent research on healthy aging in which he mentioned some surprising findings .”
Dollywood ’ s DreamMore Resort
PIGEON FORGE , TENNESSEE
“ At Dollywood ’ s DreamMore Resort , I joined the cast of Dreamland Drive-in to kick up my heels and embrace fitness in a fun 1950 ’ s dance routine . With two of Dollywood ’ s long-term employees , we join Missy Kane , a former Olympian who works with older clients on physical fitness . She provides us tips on easy ways to stay physically fit and active . Along the way , there are so many fun characters and at the heart of the story is the fact that Dollywood is a proponent of hiring an older workforce and reaps the benefits of doing so .”

Extra Care Program by Hospice of the Bluegrass
LEXINGTON , KENTUCKY
“ In Lexington , we met with Jane , who is 93 years old and has slight dementia . The focus of this segment is to show that Jane is able to stay healthy in her home due to the support she receives from Hospice of the Bluegrass ’ Extra Care program and her family . We hope this segment educates families that it is possible to age at home and highlight the support services that are accessible . We were surprised to learn about Jane ’ s amazing life and how , at the age of 20 , she received her pilot ’ s license to impress a boy . Keep in mind this was the early 1940 ’ s . How cute is that ?”
