“Have less
conversations
about how, and
more about
why.”
— danIel PInK
PeoPle often asK Me HoW I’ve managed the
same job for 20-plus years, the answer is sometimes hard to
articulate. After experiencing the 2017 ISPA Conference &
Expo in Las Vegas, the why is crystal clear.
The gift of watching amazing leaders from around the
world come together to elevate the industry they love is the
why. The hugs and togetherness and hope ISPA projects
throughout our community are real. The progress and the
connections made year after year—none of that will ever get
old. Bonus—watching Chairman Todd Shaw pivot from such
❤
an emotional moment with Star Swain and the Mandalay Bay
team members at the opening General Session to, “Let’s get
this party started!” That’s the why! Amazing.
My why is what wakes me up at 4 a.m. every morning,
excited to take on new ISPA challenges. It’s also what keeps
me connected to the amazing people who have become dear
friends over the last 20-plus years.
So, let’s focus on having less how conversations and more
why conversations. Why conversations empower our people
to create their own way, realize their passions and form their
own purpose. Knowing your why is a powerful thing.
What’s your why?
