NEW oN tHE MENu 1 2 BrilliaNt idEa Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas has begun experimenting with a robot concierge. Pepper, an interactive robot stationed in the lobby of the hotel is a product of SoftBank Robotics and fills in if there is a wait for the live concierge, answering questions by voice or touch screen. She also entertains by answering one-off questions such as what’s her favorite color (gold, like the lobby wall) or hockey team (the Vegas Golden Knights). oPEN for BusiNEss 1. The Spa at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California will bring back Immersive Wellness at Terranea, which is the second iteration of the resort’s new wellness-focused series. The programming will take place August 24-26, and invites guests to nourish the mind, body and soul with inspirational and educational events ranging from expert speakers and interactive workshops, to mindful spa treatments, and beyond. 2. The Edgewater Spa in Madison, Wisconsin, kicked off its new Brew-Inspired Summer Spa Treatments, which blend key ingredients like coffee, vanilla bean, apricots, peaches and cranberries into soothing spa treatments that are topped off with sips of some of Wisconsin’s finest handcrafted beers. 20 PULSE ■ July 2018 Sanctuary Spa at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona, completed a top-to-bottom refurbishment and expansion that introduced a new look and a brand-new feature, the Women’s Quiet Room. The spa has separate women’s and men’s spas, with a total of 12 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and a private, stone-walled outdoor treatment room called Sanctum. Interior designer Lynne Beyer oversaw the redesign, while Mark Philp of Allen + Philps Architects was the project architect.
