their teams .“ They get extra skills and the information they can use to their advantage to serve guests ,” she says .
At Four Seasons Scottsdale , Jaana Roth plans to carry forward another habit that developed during the pandemic and continue to offer outdoor classes that allow guests to enjoy the same benefits they might enjoy indoors , with the added bonus of experiencing nature ’ s beauty as they do so .“ There are a lot of guests who don ’ t want to be indoors anymore . They ’ re like ,‘ Can we just do the class outside ?’ That ’ s cool , and personally , I ’ d rather be outdoors than inside !” Roth says .
Roth is also quick to note , however , that not every wellness-related guest request can be fulfilled . One popular request among guests has been for the addition of interactive fitness mirrors for the hotel rooms . It ’ s a request that won ’ t likely be granted anytime soon , owing to potential security concerns of having a device in the room with a built-in camera .“ There ’ s a camera in there and they cannot remove it . Our exercise bikes have no cameras . Guests are asking , but we can ’ t do it — it ’ s for their privacy and to protect all our guests .”
KariLynn Keith ’ s retirement-age guests at The Spa at Kilaga Springs can look forward to another expansion of their wellness services in the form of medspa-style services ( the type that don ’ t require licensed medical supervision ) such as recovery technologies , cryotherapy , light therapy and dermaplaning .“ Hopefully the demand
we ’ ve seen industry-wide keeps up and the interest in and awareness of wellness offerings keeps up , and it makes sense for spas to add on . It ’ s really interesting to see what we can do and where we can grow ,” Keith says .
“ Grow ” certainly seems to be the operative word when it comes to the expansion of spa ’ s wellness offerings and guest expectations around them . “ This really is a trend ,” says Rita Rroku-Berishaj . “ Hopefully , it will be here to stay , but I think it will be down to how much we as leaders and as team members in our communities are going to be engaged in this concept and see it through , because it is truly important . We really want to make it about the greatest benefits for our guests and what we can offer and why we are a space for everyone .” n
