1. california’s glen ivy Hot springs unveiled a new lounge and wellness menu in
January, with an outdoor wooden gazebo overlooking the waters and the
grounds. Ivy Kitchen’s new menu offers breakfast and lunch items that focus
on overall wellness and locally sourced ingredients, created by executive chef
Micah Severeid.

2. In november, Marriott international introduced Serve 360, a roadmap for the
company to reduce its environmental impact and operate more sustainable
hotels, among other goals, such as community and employee development and
human rights initiatives. Those goals include reducing hotels’ use of water,
carbon and waste across the portfolio by 2025. Goals shift depending on the
region.
3. Swedish brand forEo launched its newest beauty-tech device, the UFo, at the
consumer Electronics Show (cES), Las vegas, making it available to pre-order in
partnership with crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The FoREo UFo is
described as the world’s first smart mask treatment to offer spa-level facial
treatments in just 90 seconds, combining LEd light therapy with cryo-therapy,
thermo-therapy and T-Sonic pulsations activated via your smartphone.
4. associated bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) recently announced
changes in its leadership team. Bob Benson, ABMP chairman and chief
Executive officer (cEo) since 1996, has stepped down and Les Sweeney, ABMP
President, has succeeded him as cEo. Leslie young is stepping down as Editor-
in-chief of Massage & Bodywork magazine to expand her role as vice President
of communication and Professional outreach for ABMP, AScP, AHP and AnP.
She will continue to contribute to Massage & Bodywork magazine as Editor-at-
Large. darren Buford has been named Editor-in-chief of Massage & Bodywork
magazine, succeeding Leslie young.

1. on christmas Eve, the dallas omni Hotel opened its doors (and rooms) to
the homeless population of dallas, Texas. Partnering with local organi-
zation, The SoupMobile, the hotel hosted more than 500 homeless men,
women and children for the holiday. The annual “celebrate Jesus” event
offers the red carpet treatment every christmas Eve. Guests arrive in
charter buses, walk the red carpet and are shown to their rooms for the
night. The guests stay in a room for one night, attend a banquet, church
service and movie night. organizers at the dallas omni Hotel hope this
even will serve to call attention to the plight of the homeless in north
Texas.
2. Eau Palm beach resort & spa and the sea turtle hospital at Loggerhead

Marinelife center recently announced their new community partnership
to better protect the area’s beaches and sea turtles around the world.
As part of the partnership, Eau Palm Beach guests will have the oppor-
tunity to enjoy special offerings benefitting the LMc. Guests of the
resort were also able to attend educational sea turtle programs before
the beginning of nesting season in January, February and March. To
honor Eau Palm Beach’s support of LMc, the center has named a
loggerhead sea turtle patient Eau-tis (Eau is pronounced like “o” and
means “water” in French). Eau-tis was found in the Intracoastal
Waterway in Jupiter and was anemic and suffering from hypoglycemia
