AT THE HEART OF THE ISPA RESEARCH FOUNDATION’ S work is the annual ISPA U. S. Spa Industry Study, the definitive benchmark for understanding the size, scope and health of the spa sector. One of the most anticipated moments each year is the unveiling of the study’ s renowned“ Big Five” statistics, which will be revealed during the 2026 ISPA Conference. These five indicators— overall revenue; total spa visits; number of spa locations; revenue per visit; and total spa industry employment— offer a powerful snapshot of where the industry stands and where it may be headed.
The release of the Big Five, along with analytical remarks from study partner PwC, has become a hallmark Conference moment, generating buzz and strategic
reflection. More than just numbers, these metrics help leaders better understand the broader economic and operational landscape in which spas operate.

AT THE 2026 ISPA CONFERENCE, Immediate Past ISPA Chair Kelleye Martin will assume the role of Chair of the ISPA Research Foundation, bringing deep experience and a strong commitment to research-driven leadership. At the same time, we extend sincere appreciation to outgoing Foundation Chair Todd Shaw, whose inspired and successful leadership over the past two years has strengthened the Foundation’ s mission and expanded its reach. His dedication has helped ensure the Foundation’ s research continues to serve as a trusted resource for the global spa community.
