AS THE SAYING GOES, If you do what you’ ve always done, you’ ll get what you’ ve always gotten. That idea has been on my mind as I think about our upcoming ISPA Conference in Vegas.
This year’ s Conference is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet— with new experiences, fresh content and an agenda that goes well beyond what many of us have come to expect. But for ISPA veterans in particular, ask yourselves: How often do we fall into the same comfortable routines? The same schedules, the same seats, the same familiar faces— often with our closest friends. Comfort and familiarity are wonderful, but real learning and meaningful growth rarely happen there.
This year, I want to challenge all of us: Give yourself a different kind of gift— the gift of doing something new. Try an area of the Conference you may have skipped before. Sit on the opposite side of a Power Session. Step into the Experience Center. Say yes to the Welcome Party— wear the gold outfit, dance and have some fun. At lunch, sit with people you don’ t know yet. Make new connections. Build new friendships.
ISPA is, at its heart, a community of like-minded individuals brought together by a shared commitment to growth, excellence and continuous self-improvement. Make a promise to yourself that this year will be your best ISPA yet— not because of what ISPA delivered, but because of what you chose to do differently. What you experienced for the first time. What you learned. Who you met.
And if this is your first ISPA Conference, welcome. Try everything. Lean all the way in. We are so glad you’ re here— and you’ ll make friends fast.
I wish each of us an ISPA Conference journey that is personalized and inspiring, and that encourages us to push just a little beyond our comfort zone. And yes— I’ ll be right there with you, doing exactly that when I step on that stage to welcome you all. Wish me luck— and please send good vibes. n
