KIM WELLEN FOUNDER , MANTRA MASK
THE TERM “ MANTRA ” ORIGINATES from a Sanskrit word meaning “ a sacred message or text , charm , counsel .” Mantras can motivate us , provide comfort and elevate our perspective on daily life . For Kim Wellen , the positive , outgoing and hardworking founder of ISPA member Mantra Mask , that elevated perspective came to her while on a walk with her daughter .
“ After working for a high-end skin care company for nine years , I came to the belief that I wanted to be a part of change in the beauty industry and develop natural , high quality sheet masks that are available at an affordable price to everyone . I had this idea brewing in my head , but it was not until after a long walk with my 15-year-old daughter that Mantra Mask was really born . My daughter surrounds our home with beautifully done positive mantras , and she is always creating and inspiring us with her positivity . She pushed me that day to follow my dreams and create as well .”
Before her now 13-year stint in the spa industry , Kim majored in Nutritional Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo ,
about 200 miles south of her hometown of Los Altos Hills , California . In addition to her love of traveling , Kim enjoys hiking , biking , visiting the beach with her husband and spending time with her grown children .
“ I have spent the last seven years as part of the National Charity League with my daughter . I think our favorite philanthropy is Miracles for Kids . We ’ ve volunteered to help families with critically ill children fight bankruptcy , hunger and depression ,” she says .
Kim has made a handful of personal mantras part of her everyday life . She constantly tells her kids to “ Find a way ,” encouraging them to keep their heads high and minds open to get where they want to be .
Kim ’ s hope is that people will take the time while using Mantra Masks to consider their own personal mantra and what makes them glow from the inside out . This elevated approach has undoubtedly brought joy to countless customers and will continue to , as long as Kim maintains her infectious passion for cultivating positivity . ■
