Entry into the spa industry Strictly by accident, but thank goodness for that! Back when I was starting my career, I had no idea the spa industry even existed. In 2008, I joined my sister-in-law, Shannon McLinden, with the dream to grow FarmHouse Fresh. We received a call from a hotel spa partner asking if we had a gallon of one of our products— that was completely confusing to us! When we understood what they wanted to use the gallon for, an idea was born: to create natural and organic spa treatments that were served up like a farm-to-table meal... and the rest is history!
Charitable organizations close to your heart Any local animal shelter
Entry into the spa industry When I was 17, I hurt my back playing soccer, went to a chiropractor and had a massage during my visit. It all clicked for me right then. I went straight to massage school after high school and never looked back.
Personal wellness tip or ritual for balance and energy Meditation. I once worked with a Guru( yes, an actual Guru!) and learned about meditation and breathing techniques. The breathing in particular was a game changer for me. I also get as much massage as I possibly can.
The other thing I do is play a ton of golf. Just being outside and testing myself really keeps me grounded.
Even colleagues don’ t know... In my life I have always had big dogs( Rottis and Pits) but for the first time in my life I have a little dog named Nacho that I“ inherited.”
Nacho is an absolute terrorist, grumpy and bossy, but I love him! n
Personal wellness tip or ritual for balance and energy I use a morning practice that I learned from a 2023 ISPA Conference speaker that has really changed and shaped how I look at my day. Instead of scrolling on my phone when I first start the day, I spend about 15 minutes, while drinking my morning coffee, doing the following in a journal: l List three things I’ m grateful for in that moment l List one thing I want to focus on for the day l List one thing I want to let go of for the day l List one thing I can do to help someone that day And if something is weighing heavily on my mind, I just“ free journal” for a few moments to get it out of my head and onto the paper. Doing this practice every day helps to give me a roadmap for that day and truly makes a difference in how I go about my day.
