Canyon Ranch and Singapore Airlines have forged a partnership to reinvent ultra-long-haul travel with a focus on wellness cuisines, rest and relaxation, and general well-being on the world’s longest flight. Sandals Resorts International has announced that all 19 of its resorts across the Caribbean will eliminate single-use plastic straws and stirrers by November 1, 2018, at which point eco- friendly alternatives will be available upon request. Sandals strives to create a plastic-free Caribbean Sea. “We care deeply about our commitment to preserving both marine wildlife and human health,” says Adam Stewart, deputy chairman of Sandals Resorts International. GIVING BACK While Chiva-Som International Health Resort Co. Ltd in Hua Hin, Thailand is closed for renovations, their staff continues their philanthropic mission by volunteering in local communities. So far, their staff has taken part in providing aid at food stations during the Hua Hin Marathon, beach cleaning, forest cleaning, raising funds to donate food at the Hua Hin Dogs Shelter and repainting the staircase at Khao Krailas temple. 22 PULSE ■ November 2018
