AS WE ENTER THE FINAL TWO MONTHS OF THE YEAR , and many of us prepare to celebrate the holidays , I hope you can take a moment to reflect on what a year 2022 has been . As an industry , we were finally able to come together in person this past May in Las Vegas for our first ISPA Conference in two years . It was so good to see faces in 3D ! Our industry , while taxed with staffing shortages and ongoing supply chain issues , continues to post robust numbers in visits , revenues and profits . It seems like every month there is a new hotel opening with a beautiful spa attached . And now , more than ever , the broader hospitality industry is recognizing the large contribution of what we do every day in our spas as truly necessary and relevant to the overall guest experience .

As we look ahead to 2023 , there is much excitement in the air at ISPA . We hope this is the year the Council of State Governments can get Congress to usher into law an interstate compact between the states that will allow licensed therapists to move freely between states . What a win that would be for the spa industry ’ s staffing pain points . We also are working diligently with a collaborative group , including key players from the university level , to help create a spa and wellness leadership program that will have implications for decades to come for building a renewable resource of spa leaders and spa therapists . And we are deep into planning ISPA ’ s 2023 Conference , looking to build on our successes from 2022 .

So , whichever holidays you celebrate over the next two months , I wish you much joy and peace . If you don ’ t celebrate anything over the next two months , I wish you much joy and peace . I ’ m looking forward to seeing everyone in the New Year .
