The logo was designed by Mr . Kohler personally ; he wanted it to exude water-like fluidity as well as movement and life . He sat in a meeting with several managers watching as he wrote the three words “ Kohler Waters Spa ” over and over until he was finally satisfied with the look . Some were concerned guests would associate “ Kohler Waters ” with plumbing products . Herb wasn ’ t worried : he knew that in no time the name would be synonymous with the highest quality spa experience in the U . S . Kohler Waters Spa opened in 2000 , and in 2007 it was awarded the Forbes Five-Star designation that it still holds today . After several renovations to keep up with demand , Kohler Waters flagship spa now has 23 treatment rooms , but the focus remains on water .
After the first spa ’ s opening , Kohler Co . launched two additional locations in the Chicagoland area , and a fourth is
located at Lodge Kohler across the street from Lambeau Field in Green Bay , Wisconsin . It was Mr . Kohler ’ s vision and personal involvement with each location and each concept that has made them unique experiences representative of the highest level of “ gracious living ” for their guests . Mr . Kohler ’ s vision for Kohler Waters Spa lives on through his granddaughter Ashley Kohler , who serves as director of wellness at Kohler Co .
At the entrance to the Kohler factory stands a large sign stating ,“ He who toils here hath left their mark .” The mark that Herbert V . Kohler , Jr . has left on the spa industry and all of those who have had the privilege to work with him is indelible and extraordinary . He was truly one of a kind — a man of incomparable spirit . n
