Stripped-Down Spa Reopening
One might think that Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace
Las Vegas, by virtue of being a 50,000-square-foot spa in
the heart of the Las Vegas strip, would be a radically different
reopening experience than the two Woodhouse Day
Spa locations in Lexington and Northern Kentucky. Not so,
says Director of Spa and Salons Kristin Carpenter: “We are
currently operating like a smaller spa.”
Public spa amenities—including the namesake Roman
baths—remain closed, which serves to strip-down the
spa’s experience to something more typical of a much
smaller hotel spa or day spa. Carpenter and her team
have also simplified the menu to cut down on costs and
preserve profitability. Says Carpenter, “For the first week
after the spa reopened”—it closed on March 15 and reopened
on June 18—“we only offered a few signature 50-
minute massages and facials. Now we offer select 80-minute
massages and facials without steam, as well as the
120-minute Signature Hourglass treatment.” However, the
two-hour treatment is available by inquiry only.
The biggest change at Qua Baths & Spa, though, is a reduction
in operating hours to 9 AM to 6 PM Thursday
through Sunday, which has reduced expenses for both the
spa and the salon. In addition to the change in hours, Qua
Baths & Spa has deployed practices now standard across
the spa industry. In the facility’s fitness areas, mobile fitness
equipment—dumbbells, yoga mats, exercise balls—
have been removed, and hand sanitizer stations have
been placed throughout. In the spa and salon, hand sanitizer
is available at check-in, physical spaces have been
The staff at Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace Las Vegas has practiced social distancing and worn masks since reopening on June 18.
“Fewer hotel guests are on property. However,
as shows and certain bars and lounges have
temporarily closed throughout the city, hotel
guests have more time to visit the spa and salon.”
