What’s a Coach?
Don’t worry: there are no drills, practices or calisthenics involved. The
International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients
in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize
their personal and professional potential.” A professional coach, therefore,
doesn’t dictate what to do. Rather, they listen carefully to the challenges you’re
facing, ask questions and help you design the actions that will unlock your
potential as a spa operator or business leader.
Sometimes, that might mean that a coach helps you develop strategies to deal with a lack of professional focus at
work; in other cases, they might help you develop a new organizational structure that energizes your team. A professional
coach is an expert on people: how to connect with them, how to communicate with them, how to energize them and
how to maximize their potential. Above all, your coach will honor you as the expert in your life and work, and partner
with you on the journey toward achieving your goals.
Different coaches might have different specialties, interests and life experiences, and all can help you meet the
challenges that you face every day at your spa or business.
