n the heart of Arizona’s Urban Heart sits the
Phoenix Convention Center, a state-of-the-art
facility that boasts a modern design, tons of
natural light and green initiatives that will
certainly make us spa professionals swoon.
The ISPA Conference & Expo will take over three
levels of the Convention Center, making every
aspect of the event convenient and easy to access
for all guests.

Green Initiatives
the phoenix convention center is a Leed-silver
certified green building with several notable environ-
mentally-friendly features throughout its campus. The
city has worked hard to ensure all events that take place
at the Convention Center are eco-friendly and leave as
small a footprint as possible. Here are just a few of the
green efforts you will notice while there:

outdated lighting has been converted to energy efficient Led
light technology.
convention center chairs that will be used in the Education
Sessions and at lunch are made from recycled car battery
casings and seatbelts.
the condensation from air conditioning units are the source
of water for their plants.
Low VoC-emitting materials for the building’s interior create
an enhanced indoor environmental Quality.
occupancy sensors and permanent monitoring systems
minimize energy use.
The low-flow fixtures in the bathrooms reduce domestic water
use.
a comprehensive recycling program and Green cleaning
program have been implemented to minimize ongoing environ-
mental impacts.
a new chef’s garden is currently being planted (visible for our
attendees to see when walking through our Experience Center
hallway) and will be fully in place by the time of our event.
Finally, the Phoenix Convention Center is the first major
convention center in the united states to install an organic
refuse conversion alternative (orca) machine, which
converts food waste into an organic liquid that doesn’t need to
be transported to landfills and can even be used as a nutrient-
rich effluent matter.
