SOUND OFF
SOUND OFF GIVES VOICE to the many perspectives that shape our industry. Each issue, we ask ISPA members from different roles, regions and company types the same question— and discover how their responses align, differ and inspire.
“ How do you structure your team meetings?”
ANU BAMISAYE Topaz House of Beauty Spa & Salon Founder / Spa Director ABUJA, NIGERIA
KATIE GILLIGAN Stillwater Spa at The Park Hyatt Toronto Spa Director ONTARIO, CANADA
BRANDY HOPKINS Serenity Spa, Westgate Las Vegas Resort Director of Spa, Pool and Retail Operations LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
“ We structure our team meetings to be focused and efficient. We hold a weekly 30 – 45 minute meeting where we review performance, address any client feedback, discuss treatment standards, and align on goals for the week. Each meeting starts with a quick update from the spa supervisor, followed by input from each department( front desk, therapists, housekeeping). We also use the time for brief training refreshers or updates on new protocols. This keeps everyone informed, engaged and aligned with our service standards.”
“ We do check-ins twice a week before the spa opens— 15 minutes before their services start.”
“ Go over highlights, give props! Go over what is coming up next and then allow the team to let me know what is needed.”
“ You can’ t forget that organizational success flows from the hearts and minds of the men and women you lead.”
— MARILLYN HEWSON
“ Meetings without an agenda are like a restaurant without a menu.”
