ISPA Board Service

The ISPA Board is fully engaged in the leadership of the organization . While it does not handle ISPA ’ s day-to-day operations , the board provides important guidance and sets goals for the team . Its primary focus is creating strategies to engage current members and attract new ones . By defining ISPA ’ s strategic vision , the board ensures the association continues to grow and remain relevant .

Director ’ s Responsibilities l Meetings : The board decides the number of in-person

l meetings during the annual budget process . In a typical year , the board meets in person three times , in addition to the annual ISPA Conference . Attendance is mandatory , and directors are expected to be present at every meeting . Financial : Directors are responsible for the financial commitment to travel and attend in-person meetings and can anticipate spending an average of $ 1,500 to attend each in-person meeting . Conference travel is an additional out-of-pocket expense . Monthly check-in : Directors dedicate several hours each week to review ISPA business , communications and board information , in addition to participating in monthly board connects . ISPA Foundation : Directors support the ISPA Foundation through fundraising , donations and participation in the Foundation Auctions . Overall : Directors are expected to be available as needed while balancing their full-time professional commitments .

* ELIGIBILITY FOR BOARD SERVICE l Must be a current , primary member of ISPA . l Must have an ISPA membership tenure of at least two years . l Must have attended at least one ISPA Conference . l Must be willing to volunteer approximately 1-2 hours each month to assist with tasks outlined above .

Board Selection Process

Each year , the ISPA Nominations Committee is tasked with evaluating the current board ’ s needs and proposing members to fill any vacancies that occur in the set annual rotation of board members . This thorough nominations process has evolved to identify candidates with high-level leadership qualities and attributes .

After submitting an Expression of Candidacy , eligible candidates will participate in up to two interviews via video conferencing . Individuals selected for the slate of candidates may serve a term of up to three years . The slate of candidates is presented to the ISPA membership for approval . New directors navigate a thorough orientation process before taking office during the ISPA Conference . Directors may serve two consecutive terms before observing a one-year hiatus . n
