Entrepreneurship in the U . S . reveals striking benefits for those who employ others . According to research conducted by Gallup and supported by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation and Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation , adults who employ others , known as owner-employers , report higher income , wealth , life evaluation and work engagement compared to other groups like employees and non-employer owners . Despite making up only 2.4 percent of the U . S . workforce , owner-employers enjoy the highest levels of subjective well-being , with 75.4 percent indicating high work engagement and 78.1 percent rating their job satisfaction highly . They also fare better financially , with a median personal income of $ 110,000 and household income of $ 175,000 , significantly outpacing non-employer owners and employees . Owner-employers also have substantial non-business assets , averaging $ 550,000 . This research underscores that , while entrepreneurship is a narrow pathway to wealth , businesses that are large or profitable enough to employ others significantly enhance both financial and well-being outcomes .

A recent Gallup poll highlights a concerning trend : Americans are sleeping less and experiencing more stress . For the
first time since 2001 , the majority of U . S . adults ( 57 percent ) report needing more sleep , a significant shift from 2013 when 56 percent felt adequately rested . The decline in sleep is matched by a rise in stress , with nearly half of Americans ( 49 percent ) frequently feeling stressed , a 16-point increase over the past two decades . The data reveal a strong correlation between sleep and stress , particularly among women under 50 , who report higher stress levels than men . This escalating stress and sleep deprivation affects overall health , with younger women and Gen Z particularly affected . The findings underscore the urgent need for strategies to improve sleep and manage stress to enhance well-being and health outcomes .
