The Slow Rollback

Though 86 percent of spa respondents say that they are
not yet rolling back any COVID-19-related policies or restrictions such as temperature checks or mask mandates , some spas are beginning the process of lifting them . Fourteen percent of spas reported taking such steps , including eliminating waivers , temperature checks and one-way entrances , restoring their full service menu and reducing cleaning time between services .
As occupancy restrictions are lifted ( 51 percent of spa respondents are now operating at or above 56 percent capacity ) and state guidelines change , it seems likely that spas ’ COVID-19 policies will continue to be altered in kind . It ’ s worth noting , however , that public health officials continue to debate best practices for businesses regarding policies such as mask mandates , even as the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated increases .
