Driving forward— together
IN A PLAYFUL TWIST, each group designed a“ car” to symbolize its ideas. Staying true to ISPA’ s inclusive culture, the cars quickly grew into buses— vehicles large enough to carry the entire community forward together. These metaphors underscored the board’ s emphasis on shared progress and the power of collective vision.
Governance Leadership processes were also a focus, with a continued emphasis on transparency, stability and clear communication with members. The board agreed to return officer elections to the January schedule, with annual transitions occurring at the annual ISPA Conference.

ISPA Foundation The ISPA Foundation continues to deliver direct member value through research efforts. Work is underway with the Foundation to develop more consumer research to strengthen industry insights. Directors underscored the importance of member-focused fundraising and aligning research with spa operator priorities.
STRATEGIC VISIONING: DRIVING THE FUTURE
Past Chair Jean Kolb guided the annual strategic visioning session, beginning with a review of ISPA’ s accomplishments and membership insights from a recent survey. That context set the stage for small-group discussions aimed at shaping ISPA’ s direction in the coming years.
Three areas of focus emerged: l Education and Research l Networking and Community l Strengthening and Growing Membership
Emerging themes The sessions yielded several themes to guide ISPA’ s strategic direction: l Strengthening community connections across all segments of the industry l Expanding membership through partnerships and innovative outreach l Elevating spa profitability with improved retail education and operational resources l Leveraging marketing and PR to amplify ISPA’ s visibility and influence l Enhancing interactive learning opportunities and deepening resource partner engagement
Looking Ahead Directors noted these priorities are not just aspirational— they represent actionable goals to be pursued in the next one to five years. By anchoring strategy in both creativity and practicality, the board reaffirmed its commitment to evolving ISPA in ways that serve members directly while advancing the broader spa industry.
