CLEAR EYES. FULL HEARTS. CAN’ T LOSE.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND STYLING BY ECHO STARMAKER.
MY CUTE HUSBAND AND I have recently started rewatching Friday Night Lights. If you haven’ t seen it, you’ re truly missing out. The first time I watched the TV series, which premiered in 2006, I experienced it through the eyes of a“ young” person. Now, I see it through a more seasoned lens, and the lessons land differently. Coach Taylor’ s wisdom— what he instills in his players, and what he learns from them— remains unforgettable.
It takes me back to the beginning of my ISPA journey in 1997. Jane Segerberg was Chair at the time, and she taught me the spa industry from the ground up. What a blessing to have such a coach.
Many years later, the lessons keep coming. With each new Chair and blend of board members, the ISPA journey stays fresh, challenging and inspiring. Just last month in Miami, the ISPA Board gathered for our annual strategic visioning session, moderated by Past Chair Jean Kolb. Our own Crystal Ducker— affectionately known as“ Data”— armed the board with real-time insights into what matters most to our members. The result? Rich dialogue, healthy debate and meaningful collaboration between the“ young” and“ seasoned” voices around the table.
For me, the process is both invigorating and thought-provoking. From that very first meeting in 1997 to today in 2025, I’ m reminded that as we step into the future of ISPA with clear eyes and full hearts— we truly can’ t lose.
Beyond grateful for all the smart coaches along the way— thank you.
With our precious fur babies Colter Bay and Moose Wyoming McNees.
