LOOKING AHEAD TO BOARD SERVICE
BOARD BRIEFINGS

Elected to Serve Inside the process for choosing ISPA’ s board officers

EACH YEAR, THE FULL ISPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS elects its officers, including the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary / Treasurer.
Under ISPA’ s Bylaws, officers are elected from among the board’ s spa-member directors. Spa and resource partner directors participate fully in board discussions and decisions, bringing together the perspectives of spa operators and the companies that support and advance the industry.
NOT AN AUTOMATIC NEXT STEP Officer positions are not automatic steppingstones. Eligible directors may express interest in serving, and the full board elects the individuals it believes are best suited to lead ISPA in the year ahead.
The result is a leadership team selected through a consistent process and entrusted with helping ISPA remain responsive to its members and the evolving needs of the spa industry.
Members Elect Directors. Directors Elect Officers.
ISPA members help shape the association’ s leadership by voting on the slate of candidates for positions on the ISPA Board of Directors. Choosing officers is a separate responsibility entrusted to the sitting board.
EXTENDING THE APPROACH The ISPA Research Foundation Board recently adopted a complementary officer election policy modeled after the ISPA Board process. Bringing greater consistency to leadership elections across both boards reinforces shared expectations around transparency, opportunity and responsible governance.
The process reflects something members see throughout ISPA: volunteer leaders thoughtfully stepping forward to serve, peers carefully considering what the association needs next and governance practices designed to keep ISPA moving forward.
