SINCE 1999, THE ISPA VISIONARY AWARD has honored
those people whose determination, imagination and passion has pushed the spa
industry—and its ideals of wellness and positivity—forward.
This year, ISPA is honored to present the 2018 ISPA Visionary Award in
memory of Lori Hutchinson, who was a fixture in the international spa
community for decades. In 2016, Lori passed away after a battle with cancer; the
award will be accepted on stage at this year’s ISPA Conference & Expo by Bill
Hutchinson and their two children, Kate and Tucker.
“We are so honored to be able to celebrate her life and the impact she made
on so many in the spa community,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees.
Lori’s career began in San Francisco’s Stanford Court Hotel in 1978; just four
years later, Lori was director of human resources at Campton Place Hotel. Never
one to rest on her laurels, Lori launched Hutchinson Consulting in 1993, lever-
aging her expertise in human resources and hospitality to shape the business
into a global leader in hospitality management recruiting. Working with her
husband, Bill Hutchinson, Lori expanded their business into other areas,
including the worldwide spa industry. Now, the company that the two founded
does everything from marketing consulting and financial projections to career
coaching and talent acquisition.
