What changed in 2024? According to the study: l Half of all spas( 50 percent) made facility upgrades in 2024— most commonly to retail spaces( 27 percent) and treatment rooms( 24 percent). l Day spas led the way, averaging 3.5 renovation projects compared to 2.6 among resort / hotel spas. l One in six spas( 17 percent) expanded their footprint, typically by increasing treatment room capacity.
What’ s coming in 2025? Renovation plans continue into the latter half of this year: l A third of all spas( 35 percent) plan to renovate, including six percent preparing for full renovations. l Resort / hotel spas show growing momentum, with 41 percent planning upgrades— up from 36 percent last year.
While some spas remain uncertain about their 2025 renovation plans, the data clearly signal a commitment to continual improvement across the industry. n
