Managing the Business Operations and Long-term Strategy for the Nonprofit Association
EARLIER THIS SUMMER , the ISPA Board ’ s first meeting following the 2024 ISPA Conference marked a significant transition , introducing new officers and directors who took office at the April gathering .
The board ’ s focus for the June meeting was strategic visioning , including an emphasis on fiduciary responsibilities . To ensure ISPA members are informed about strategic leadership decisions , Chair Kelleye Martin created this update that will appear in Pulse following each official ISPA Board meeting .
Association Business As part of their fiduciary responsibilities to ISPA , the board discussed a financial update for the Association following a successful 2024 ISPA Conference in Phoenix , Arizona , which exceeded all attendee , exhibitor and sponsor goals . The finance team was working closely with the Secretary / Treasurer to close out the financial statements for the event . The board also discussed the current level of the Association ’ s financial reserves , which remain at a healthy level , slightly above the average for nonprofit trade organizations . The level of reserve funds is reviewed each year during the board ’ s autumn budget meeting .
Member Benefits The board reviewed the progress on the new ISPA Learning Management System that will launch to members later this year on experienceispa . com . ISPA Volunteer Groups have been instrumental in review and will help with the roll-out and content updates .
ISPA Conference Organizing and promoting the 2025 ISPA Conference in Colorado Springs , Colorado , is a top priority . The board discussed the site visit outcomes , highlighting the overwhelming number of wellness and exploration activities the area offers that will add to the overall attendee experience . The board reviewed official host hotels including Cheyenne Mountain Resort and The Broadmoor as well as the space layout for the Expo . This year ’ s theme , Elevate , was easily decided upon as the venue and event lineup will provide a memorable five-star experience for ISPA ’ s 35th Anniversary celebration .
The board reviewed and updated the definitions of ISPA ’ s three premier awards that are presented to the recipients each year at the ISPA Conference . Those awards include the ISPA Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award , ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award and ISPA
