LIKE OTHER MEMBER-DRIVEN, nonprofit trade associations, ISPA is powered by volunteerism. Countless dedicated ISPA members devote their time, energy and expertise through volunteer service—strengthening not only the association, but the spa industry as a whole.
ISPA’s volunteer groups—you will hear us refer to them as task forces—offer members a variety of ways to get involved and contribute to the ISPA community they love. Whether your goal is to expand your professional network, build your personal brand or help shape the future of wellness, there is a place for you to plug in.
ISPA Ambassadors: Expanding influence and connection
One of the most accessible ways to engage is through the ISPA Ambassadors. These groups allow members to contribute ideas, share expertise and influence key initiatives.
Active participation during a periodic virtual meeting. Members who participate in this Ambassador opportunity should plan to spend approximately one to two hours each month preparing for and attending a virtual meeting. Attendance is required. To participate, members must have two years of ISPA membership history and have attended the ISPA Conference.
DIGITAL SUPPORT VIA SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT
This opportunity allows members to support ISPA through active social media engagement. Participants should plan to spend approximately one hour each month engaging with ISPA on social media.
Participants must be active members of ISPA. There is no length-of-membership requirement.
DIGITAL SUPPORT VIA SURVEY PARTICIPATION
Members may also support ISPA by actively participating in ISPA surveys. This opportunity requires approximately one hour each month.

SERVING AS A RESOURCE FOR PULSE MAGAZINE

VOLUNTEERING DURING THE ISPA CONFERENCE
Members may also volunteer during the annual ISPA Conference. Depending on the task, this opportunity requires approximately one to five hours of time before and onsite during the ISPA Conference.
To participate, members must meet the following criteria:
- Registration for the upcoming ISPA Conference is required.
- Two years of ISPA membership history is required.
- ISPA Conference attendance is required.
- This offering is not available to Resource Partner Vendor members.
Volunteer groups: Shaping strategy and industry direction
For those ready to contribute at a deeper, strategic level, ISPA offers curated volunteer groups that influence key areas of the organization and industry, ensuring the association’s direction is informed by a well-rounded collection of member voices.
RESOURCE PARTNER TASK FORCE
A committee of exhibitors who collaborate to share insights and provide feedback to consistently improve and evolve the Expo floor at the ISPA Conference. Through monthly collaboration calls, members directly influence future event success—from logistics to innovation.
INDUSTRY COLLABORATION GROUP
A dynamic collective of respected corporate spa headquarters leaders who convene regularly to exchange insights and share organizational perspectives. This group serves as a vital sounding board for the ISPA Team, offering real-world feedback that helps shape initiatives, address emerging challenges and identify opportunities across the industry.
Why are there criteria to participate in a volunteer group?
ISPA’S VOLUNTEER GROUPS are topic-driven, and based on the topic, a more tenured member perspective may be needed.
For example, the Resource Partner Task Force dives into the details of the Expo and sponsorship experience. In a conversation about shipping efficiencies, a representative should be able to speak to those areas within their organization. The criteria ensure the right expertise is at the table—maximizing the impact of every discussion.
“Volunteering is a powerful act of service that connects people to their communities.”
Proof that the best ideas can come from a great conversation: ISPA’s favorite new tagline—Spa is where wellness begins—originated during a Collaboration Group connect.
Individual involvement: Contributing to the spa community outside of ISPA group participation
Not ready to join a formal task force? There are plenty of ways to contribute right away. Each of these actions helps strengthen the ISPA community while keeping you informed and engaged:
- Connect with ISPA on social media (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
- Participate in monthly Snapshot Surveys
- Attend or view virtual Town Halls
- Share member press releases with ISPA
- Contribute to Pulse magazine
- Attend the annual ISPA Conference
- Volunteer to serve as a subject matter expert as a Town Hall panelist
- Participate in the annual ISPA Research Foundation Auctions

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Why it matters
EVERY CONVERSATION, IDEA AND CONTRIBUTION helps move the industry forward.
Volunteering with ISPA is more than participation—it’s leadership in action. It’s how you:
- Shape the future of the spa industry
- Build your personal brand and professional visibility
- Expand your network with like-minded leaders
- Develop new skills and perspectives
Short on time but still want to contribute?
YOU STILL HAVE OPTIONS.
- Participate in any of the Individual Involvement opportunities.
- Share your expertise by contributing to an upcoming Pulse magazine topic.
Even small contributions can make a meaningful impact.
The networking opportunities and informal conversations you have while volunteering often lead to new ideas, partnerships and professional growth.
