OFFICERS
Chair • Kenneth Ryan THE ESTATE
WHEN I STOOD ON STAGE at this year’ s ISPA Conference, I reflected on the early days of our industry— a time when many of us were still helping the world understand that spa was more than hot tubs.
We were helping people understand spa was about restoration, human connection, personal renewal and the powerful idea that taking care of yourself was not indulgent— it was essential.
Today, that message has not disappeared. It has expanded.
Over the past three decades, our industry has evolved into something much larger and more urgent. The conversation has moved from spa, to wellness, to well-being, to longevity. Each word has brought new attention, new investment and new opportunity.
But the foundation remains the same.
Spa is where wellness begins.
Covid accelerated this shift, reminding people health is fragile, well-being matters, stress has consequences and prevention is far more powerful than repair. What our industry had been saying for years suddenly became part of the global conversation.
Spa ➙ Wellness ➙ Longevity
Longevity continues what spa has always stood for: helping people live better, feel better, recover better, connect more deeply and care for themselves with greater intention.
The language has evolved, but the promise remains deeply familiar. Through
my work as chief longevity officer for THE ESTATE, I see longevity as a continuation of what spa has always stood for: helping people live better, feel better, recover better, connect more deeply and care for themselves with greater intention.
The science has advanced. Guest expectations have grown. But the heart of the work remains familiar. We help people feel and look their best— not only for a moment, but for a lifetime.
As an industry, we must continue to evolve and embrace innovation, personalization, performance, mental well-being, recovery, beauty, fitness, hospitality and human connection.
At the same time, we must stay grounded in what has always made this industry special. The future of spa is not about abandoning who we are. It is about expanding what we know we can become. We are not just part of the evolution.
We helped begin it.
